Pinoy Pod 8

The Pinoy Soma Scene
San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood -- best known as Soma - isn't the most scenic part of the city. But young Filipinos have found a home here, a place where they can express themselves in music, poetry and activism. Pinoy Pod's Michelle Louie offers an upclose look at the Pinoys of Soma.

Meet hiphop artist Mario Demiera, a.k.a. Nomi, who left the Twin Cities and was blown away by Soma's Pinoy scene.

Then there's musician Rupert Estanislao who left the Philippines at age 11 and later plunged into the Bay Area punk rock culture.
